My life verses are I Corinthians 9:22-23, "I have become all things to all people so that by all means possible I might save some. I do all of this for the sake of the gospel so that I may share in its blessing."
I love Lakeside and feel so fortunate to have been directed by God to be part of such a great church community. My principle responsibilities at Lakeside (notice that I said principle because there are many things I do that are not on the list) are to lead; teach and make sure people are cared for and connected. I give insight and input to the overall strategic and spiritual direction of the church.
Leading and teaching are my spiritual gifts and personal passions. I have read hundreds of books on leadership and teaching and strive to continually sharpen my skills in these areas. As facilitator for the Leadership Team, I act as a mentor, leader and listener to the staff team. I teach about 75% of the Sunday morning services. As a member of Lakesides' teaching team, I also conduct seminars and courses.

My History
I was born in Hamilton, Ontario on December 30, 1957 and grew up in a ministry home. I am a PK (pastor's kid) and ministry was the last thing in the world I wanted to do when I left high school. I have two brothers and three adopted sisters.
My wife Sue and I were married on September 16, 1978. We have three beautiful daughters; Heather, Lindsay and Lauren. We also share our home with our dog Bailey. Using the gift of Hospitality is something Sue and I enjoy doing.
For ten years I was a funeral director. Following that I was a VP for a financial institution. I graduated from Tyndale Seminary in 1988. In 1992 there was a specific time when I felt the leading of God to go into full time ministry. I started as a teaching pastor at Harbour Fellowship Church in June 1994. Our family came to Lakeside in August of 1999 and it has been a great ride ever since. God has surely blessed us!

Bill is a Sales Representative with Holland Imports. He is married to Norma and they have three adult sons and three grandchildren. Bill has attended Lakeside for 19 years and has served on the hospitality team in various roles. Bill’s favourite verse is Psalm 46:10.

Cathy is a case worker in the social service sector. She is married to Peter and they have four children, Jason, Kristen, Josh and Jenna. Cathy has attended Lakeside almost since the beginning and has served as a small group leader and leader with b2g (post high school ministry).

Frank is a chiropractor in Guelph. He is married to Karen and has two adult children, Cameron and Janice. He is the proud grandfather of Anakin and Adelaide. Frank is one of the founding members of Lakeside and has been here through its entire history. He also serves on the Parking and the Connection Teams, he and Karen are small group leaders and he is one of our Weekend Service Hosts. His favourite verses are Psalm 139:13-16.

Jeff works in Fund Development for Listen Up TV, a weekly television program exploring news and world affairs from a Christian worldview. He is married to Andrea and has two children, Rowan and Rachel. Jeff has attended Lakeside for 17 years and you will often see him leading worship in one of our venues. Jeff is also a member of our Finance Team. His favourite verse is 1 Corinthians 15:58.

Rose is in the Administration Department at the University of Guelph. She has three adult daughters, Kristin, Amy and Anita, and has attended Lakeside for 16 years. Rose’s areas of involvement include small group leadership, Prayer Team, ushering and greeting. Her favourite verse is Isaiah 61:3

Scott is Engineering Manager at GE Water and Process Technologies. He is married to Kimi and they have two adult daughters Meghann and Sarah. They are also proud grandparents to four grandchildren. Scott has attended Lakeside for more than 16 years and serves as the leader of the Parking Team and is also a CORE team member at Lakeside. His favourite verse is Romans 12:12.

Will is the President and CEO of Nutrasource Diagnostic Inc. He is married to Kathleen and he has three daughters, Bianca, Sienna and Navena. Will has attended Lakeside for six years. He serves on the Finances Team, was part of our Facility Fundraising Team, he is the acting treasurer and you can often find Will playing bass in one of our bands at Lakeside. Lakeside has been my church home since 1992. I have enjoyed serving in the hospitality ministry; serving coffee on Sunday mornings, bringing food to families in need, or on special events throughout my time here. I have also spent many years volunteering in the children's program.
It was at the beginning of 2009 that Karen Guthrie asked me to join the Lakeside Kids Ministry as the Administration Director. In this capacity I oversee the sign-in process for the roughly 200 children Nursery to Grade 5 that come on Sunday morning, as well as the security down the halls of the Lakeside Kids venue while the adults enjoy Lakeside LIVE. The Leadership Team for Lakeside Kids truly works as a team to bring a wonderful program for the children Sunday after Sunday that opens their eyes to the love and compassion of an amazing God.
My husband Sonny and I have two teenage boys, Joris and Jan, as well as Shep the family dog. We enjoy camping, biking, hiking and watching 24 as a family.

My family and I came to Lakeside Church in 1990, just one year after it was founded, and although I have been a Christian almost all my life, my "walk" with God has grown exponentially since we came here. I have been blessed with a wonderful wife, Lillian, two great adult children, Crystal and Joel, and our amazing grandson, Liam.
After 34 years of management in a manufacturing world, and serving on the Finance and Leadership teams at Lakeside, God gave me the tremendous opportunity in 2004 of joining Lakeside as Executive Director.
I am very excited about working with this wonderful, talented staff team as we strive to follow God's vision for His amazing church! I can only imagine what He has planned for Lakeside Church!

In 1998 some friends that were attending Lakeside invited my family and me to come and check it out. This was during a very difficult season for our family. The love and support that we experienced was like nothing I had ever imagined and yet it was like everything I had always imagined. God was definitely at work laying a foundation for healing, restoration, and peace for my life. I asked Jesus to be Lord and Savior of my life in 1999.
In 2004, I had an amazing opportunity to get involved with Celebrate Recovery as a small group leader. My role has grown since and I am blessed to continue to serve there helping people to recover from life's hurts, habits and hang-ups. After 25 years in the transportation industry I came on staff as the building maintenance technician.
I am married to a beautiful wife Shirley & have 4 awesome children - Becky , Cindi, Kylie, Nick and my granddaughter Santana!
Isaiah 61:1-3
1 The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is upon me, for the LORD has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted and to proclaim that captives will be released and prisoners will be freed.
2 He has sent me to tell those who mourn that the time of the LORD's favor has come, and with it, the day of God's anger against their enemies.

My wife and I have been involved in various ministries throughout our time at Lakeside.
One of my major responsibilities and passions is leading a ministry called Celebrate Recovery! What a privilege to watch God transform and restore lives from brokenness, addictive habits and life's hang ups into fully devoted followers of Christ! I look forward to the many ministry opportunities ahead as we grow as a church community.
I am married to my incredible wife Barb and have two awesome boys, Lucas and Elliot! We have a great time together mountain biking, boating, tubing, skiing and doing life together with close friends.

Chris loves many things. These things include: God & Jesus Christ & the Holy Spirit, his beautiful wife Theresa, his two sons Sebastian and William, music, writing songs, playing guitar, Italian food, fresh bread, warm chocolate chip cookies, his mom's apple pie, Lord of The Rings, reading, learning new things, long walks and chatting. Being creative is second nature to him, even though he is an individual that loves structure, organization and places high value on being on time.
Chris started playing guitar at age 11 and pursued it all the way through University with a B.A. in Music from the University of Guelph. He has been in numerous musical situations from acting as Musical Director for large scale musicals, playing in jazz ensembles and swing orchestras to heading up a rock band. Chris also served on the Board of Directors for the Guelph Jazz Festival for a season and was the Volunteer Co-ordinator for two seasons.
Chris started as the Creative Arts Director in August of 2006. Oh yeah, Chris also loves his job.

In 2010 I went from being a Large Group Co-ordinator to a Small Group Co-ordinator. Today I work with a talented team of Small Group Leaders.
I have a Diploma from Humber College in Packaging and Graphic Design. I have a background in marketing and advertising. I am using these skills in my ministry at Lakeside Kids.
I love seeing the kids of "Lakeside Kids" learn God's Bible Truths with excitement and enthusiasm. My husband Rick also serves on the Tech team at "Lakeside Kids". We have 2 teenage kids, Alex & Lucas that serve on the Tech team as well. Being involved at Lakeside Kids has helped our family grow in our relationship with the Lord.

I started attending Lakeside in January 2009. My husband and I thought that it was time to find our own church. We felt, after a few services, that Lakeside was the place for us. Eventually I started taking our daughter to Jelly Tots to meet new people and to get out of the house. Before long, I was helping out in the Walkers Room and became part of the Jelly Tots leadership team.
I have my Early Childhood education diploma (ECE), and love working with children. I was a nanny in Mississauga. I worked in a bilingual kindergarten class in Beijing. Currently I am a stay at home mom providing daycare in my home.
I look forward to working as the Preschool Director in Lakeside Kids here at Lakeside and getting to know everyone.

I've been attending Lakeside Church since its initial inception in 1989 - I was only 3 years old! It's been an honour and a privilege to see the ministries grow here over the years. Some of the best times in my life were during my time in Jr. High and high school, and a huge part of that was because of the leaders and students who invested in me and befriended me. From my experiences, God gave me a great desire to lead high school students into great relationships as they grow and learn about their faith. For about 5 summers, I had the opportunity to minister to kids ranging from pre-school to high school at Muskoka Bible Centre in Huntsville.
As a supervisor in my last two summers at MBC I knew that God was calling me into ministry, and soon after moving back to Guelph the opportunity presented itself here at Lakeside. I started in January 2007 working with the Jr. High group, and have now moved on to working with the High School ministry. I feel so blessed and fortunate that God has lead me to take part in so many high school students lives in Guelph.
I also have the incredible privilege to serve on Lakeside's worship team as a singer/guitarist/drummer/worship leader. Wherever needed, really!
There are many things you might catch me doing in my spare time, such as attending concerts around southern Ontario, sipping coffee at Starbucks, and hanging out with my amazing friends and awesome, beautiful, and talented wife Lindsay, whom I married in May 2009. When the weather is nice you'll find me up in the Muskokas mooching off friends' cottages, or driving with my windows down listening to loud music.

In 1989 Lakeside was founded. It was our family's privilege to be a part of its beginning. In those years I was involved in the formation of Lakeside Kids. Now, years later, I am please to be once more serving in the Kids Venue alongside a great support staff.
My background is in education - both as a teacher and as a principal.
My husband Frank and I enjoy being the parents of our grown children, along with their spouses, and grandparents to our terrific grandkids.
Traveling, CFL Football and entertaining add to our lives. It's wonderful having Lakeside as our church home.

Our family has been attending Lakeside since 1991 and has been involved in many different opportunities and areas of ministry during that time. After having been a part of the community care team for a number of years it has been a natural progression to move into this role in an expanded capacity as the Director of Community Care.
Romans 13 talks about being a living sacrifice and verse 13 goes on to say if God's people need help, be ready to help. It has been an honour and a privilege to use my passion for helping people and my love for God in such an amazing way. I believe that one of the most wonderful expressions of my walk with God is to extend a hand of help and service to those in need both within our Lakeside family and within our community of Guelph. One of the joys I find in my Christian walk is the thread that God continually weaves in and through our lives connecting us with others and circumstances that we don't always comprehend or understand at the moment they are taking place.
It has been a joy-filled journey to have Rob as my husband and life partner. We have two children, Braden and Brooklyn.

Never one to do things quickly, I felt God leading me to Lakeside many years before I actually walked through the doors on Aug. 11, 2002. But I never imagined He would use me like He has. I left a full-time career in 2004 to be at home with my kids, and just a few weeks after living on one income it was apparent we could use a supplement.
Enter God - yet again and again and again!
Throughout the years my role at Lakeside has changed but I firmly believe I am here by no accident. My main responsibility now is putting together the weekly program and I absolutely love coming to work every single day! While this is not where I thought I would be at this point in my career, it is through God's grace and faithfulness that I am exactly where I am meant to be. God is good - all the time!
My husband Rob and I have two wonderful boys - Nicholas and Michael. As a family we spend much of our free time at the hockey rink or on the soccer field. When we get tired, we enjoy good family movies and popcorn.

If you walk into my office this is the scripture you will see, beautifully framed, hanging on my wall. I brought this 'picture' with me from my work at Jewels for Jesus Adoption Agency where I worked as Program Coordinator for 20 years. This verse has been my anchor, my calling and my passion, not only to know it intimately myself, but to share the amazing good news that God can make a difference, no matter what the circumstances. I call it "big-H" Hope.
My family and I started attending Lakeside in 1992. Over the course of that time I have served primarily on the Worship Team as keyboard player, vocalist, and worship leader. In 2007 Lakeside became a multi-venue church and at that time I began my ministry as the Praise Venue Leader.
My background as a psychotherapist and private adoption practitioner has led me to my new adventure at Lakeside - the development of a Grief Care Ministry called Griefwalk. This program will become the basis for our bereavement care. As the ministry grows we will be able to support other areas of loss within our community.
It is humbling to see the plans of God unfold in my life, using my experiences, education, passions and losses in a way that will bring Hope and healing to others.

I came to Lakeside after completing three years at Tyndale University College and Seminary in Toronto where I acquired a Bachelor of Religious Education degree specializing in Youth Ministry.
Youth and youth ministry have always been my heart's passion and desire. I love hanging out with them and speaking to youth of any age. My desire for youth and discipling young people was fostered through a youth leader that I had when I was 13 and 14. This guy invested in me and sought to help me experience a relationship with God. From there, I started getting involved in youth ministry at my local church and by the time I graduated from High School, I knew God was calling me to be in youth ministry.
While at Tyndale, my love and passion for youth was deepened. I began to see the hurts, pressures and pains that youth deal with. I also saw the bland/empty messages that youth pastors were giving which provided no substance to encourage or spur on those who listened. These things hurt me and made me angry, and this is why I have dedicated my life to trying to make a difference in some way. The Apostle Paul comments in 1 Thessalonians 2 on the Thessalonians' faith and their desire to be imitators of Christ. My prayer is that when I look back at some of the kids I had an opportunity to minister to, that they too will have a striving faith and a longing to be an imitator of Christ. If I can be a part of that, then I have done my job. So . . . if you have a child in Grades 6-12, bring them out, I would love to get to know them and watch God spread some of his truth in their life!
On a more personal note, I am married to my beautiful wife, Andrea. Both Andrea and I feel so privileged to work with the youth at Lakeside and we look forward to the future and our ministry together here.

Hi my name is Pauline Whyte. I came on staff at Lakeside in 1993, fulfilling the roles of Office Administrator and Communications Director. I enjoyed being at the hub of the activity for it was here that I interacted the most with the many faces and names that were a weekly part of Lakeside.
In 2000 I started downsizing my administrative duties and concentrated more on the communication needs, for this is truly where my strongest God-given talents are. Prior to joining Lakeside I was both a graphic designer and a teacher of graphic design in the Toronto and KW areas. By 2002 I was concentrating fully on visual communications and started adding video creation and editing to my portfolio. I also oversee the Sunday morning technical team that presents all the visual elements on a weekly basis.
Presenting biblical concepts via multimedia is a big part of what we do at Lakeside, and so it should be. We live in a world full of visual stimulation. We are surrounded 24/7 with the awesome, amazing natural world created by our Heavenly Father. That we see in colour and three dimensionally is no mistake. It is how we were designed to continually take in, be inspired by and spoken to in some of the most breathtaking ways.
That God created me with gifts and abilities that focus on visuals is a real thrill. To be able to turn around and use these gifts at Lakeside in a way that proclaims His wonderful message is an opportunity and honour I know I have been truly blessed with.
I have also been blessed with a great husband, Jim, who puts up with my artistic bent, and two great children, Justin and Katie. We have enjoyed living in Guelph for many years. Once a week I volunteer in the Alzheimer's program at St. Joseph's in an effort to give back to the community that has been so good to us. I also lead a life group that creates and donates quilts to charity.

My wife Trisha and I came to Lakeside in the fall of 2004, looking to give church another chance. What we found here was incredible and like nothing either of us had experienced before. I immediately knew this was where we were meant to be.
It wasn't until the fall of 2006 that I was approached by Chris Deeves to volunteer on the tech team. Chris and I went to high school together where I was actively involved in the dramatic arts department and I was the Technical Director for two Sears Drama Festivals.
Since graduating I have worked in a variety of technical careers including a couple of years as a lighting and sound tech, a couple of years in the alarm and security business, and most recently eight years in the computer industry. In 2006 I started my own business in yet another high-tech field.
In the spring of 2007, I was invited to join the staff in a part-time Technical Director position. This role utilizes my breadth of experiences as I look after everything from lighting and sound equipment, to computers and phones. The job is exciting and the Lakeside staff is a great bunch to work with. This is, without a doubt, my most enjoyable career move.
My hobbies and free time are as low tech as they can get and include golf, hikes with my wife Trisha and our two dogs, and geocaching.
Although not biblical in origin, my life's philosophy is founded in faith: I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I needed to be. (Douglas Adams)

Sandra believes that God transforms us through His Word, His Spirit and His people. She is fascinated by the way God works in our lives when we surrender to His will for us. She has been on her journey of faith for more than twenty years. It is her hope that everyone at Lakeside will develop meaningful, life-changing relationships.
Sandra started her role at Lakeside in August 2006. She has been involved at the church since 2004, mainly as the Training Coach for the Celebrate Recovery Ministry. Her background includes many years in the areas of human resources, conflict resolution and mediation.
Sandra is married to Steve. They have two children, Emma and Owen.

I can't believe how the years have passed since I began working at Lakeside. So many major events have taken place in that time. First and foremost is my decision to be a follower of Jesus; there is nothing in this world that can fill that void but Him. My life has never been the same, I now have peace, contentment and joy and His strength to see me through life.
My family also brings me joy. My husband Jake who I married in 2006, is the most wonderful man, and my three children, Alicia, Jocelyn and Colin are proud to call him their step-dad. We enjoy getting involved in all areas of volunteer work and when possible, we do it as a family.
My position as Office Administrator keeps me extremely busy with its diverse tasks and responsibilities. My role as Coordinator of Hospitality Ministries is an area close to my heart; I love working with the hundreds of faithful volunteers and I know that they share my desire for each and every person that comes through our doors at Lakeside to feel like one of the family.

I am the Executive Administrative Assistant to Dave Ralph as well as the Facility & Office Administrator. The areas of responsibility I have besides providing administrative support to Dave Ralph, are overseeing all room/venue bookings for our Lakeside events as well as rentals from the greater Guelph community. This also involves updating and maintaining the Lakeside master calendar. I also coordinate the phone volunteer schedule and order office supplies as needed. My office hours are Tuesday - Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
My husband Dave and I have four daughters between the ages of 17 and 23. In my spare time I enjoy traveling, reading, working out, having coffee with friends and riding my motorcycle.

Our family has been at Lakeside since moving from another ministry in St. Catharines. We know without a doubt that God has led us to minister here.
I teach piano part time in my home and I was contemplating getting some extra part time work outside of the home. The next thing I knew, I was asked if I would be interested in assisting about 14 hours a week in the Lakeside church office. I felt this was an answer to prayer. I have worked in several different business offices over the years and this experience along with my musical training seemed a great fit-plus I really enjoy working with other people.
I have been involved in music since I was a child and was the church pianist in Hamilton, Ontario when I was 18 years old. I actually took over from my mom and she was glad to pass the piano playing on to me. To this day, I have stayed active in my church involvement and I enjoy playing in one of our Lakeside bands on a regular basis.

I've been attending Lakeside for about 12 years. I wanted to belong to a church that believed and taught the uncompromised Word of God! Church for me had to be: fun, relaxed, creative (and biblically-based, of course).
I'm married to Rodney and have 2 wonderful children, Gillian and Noah. I went from being a "stay-at-home mom" to volunteering my time on stage in "Kidstuf" and as a "Storyteller" in the Children's Ministry on Sunday mornings. After many heart-felt talks with God, I knew that He had equipped me with the gifts and talents to work with kids! I was extremely excited to be offered the opportunity to lead the 2009 Children's Summer Program. It didn't take long for me to realize that God had more in store for me...and this was just the "tip of the iceberg."
Today, I am the Large Group Co-ordinator for Children's Programming. I work with the best and most dedicated group of people who feel just as passionately about kids as I do! God wants our kids to love Him, love coming to church, and love having fun doing it! I co-ordinate the Sunday morning lessons, in "Soul Station", and lead a group of storytellers, hosts, and praise & worship team. We make sure that kids know that church doesn't have to be boring, and our kids tell their parents that they want to keep coming back! That says a lot!
