Donations are transferred directly from your bank account to Lakeside on a recurring schedule – weekly, bi-weekly, twice monthly or monthly. You determine the donation amount, the transfer frequency, and the start date - the rest is automatic! All PAG donations go directly to Lakeside’s General Operating Fund, and any changes or adjustments can be made by emailing Bill Landsborough at Lakeside. All donations are acknowledged with a year end receipt from Lakeside that is useable for tax purposes. Complete the PAG Agreement Form , attach a Void cheque, and forward (in a sealed envelope) to Bill Landsborough.
Just as you pay utility bills via your bank’s website, you can also donate to Lakeside in the same manner. You can donate to the general operating fund or any other Lakeside account listed on the EFT Information Sheet. This can be done as a single transaction or set up as a recurring donation if your bank’s website offers this option. All donations are acknowledged with a year end receipt from Lakeside that is useable for tax purposes.
Donations can be made through this website by clicking on CanadaHelps below, or on the CanadaHelps logo throughout this website. These donations are made with your credit card or Paypal account, and can be made to one of several Lakeside accounts listed on this website. Recurring donations can also be set up. All donations are acknowledged with a year end receipt from CanadaHelps that is useable for tax purposes.
Numbered offering envelopes are also available at Lakeside – these can be placed in the offering basket on Sunday mornings. Contact Sharon Wolters at Lakeside to receive offering envelopes. Donation receipts for these donations are issued at the end of the year. Blank offering envelopes are also available at the back of each venue and at the Information Booth, but it is imperative that your name and address be added to the label on the front of the envelope in order to be receipted at year end. Donations can be made using loose cheques (no envelopes) and these donations will also be receipted provided your name and address is on the cheque.
A publicly listed security (e.g. shares, bonds, mutual funds etc. and further referred to collectively as "shares") is one that is listed on a recognized stock exchange.
The increase in the value (profit) of shares realized upon the sale of those shares is called a capital gain. Typically 50% of that capital gain is taxable. However, a special tax benefit is available to individuals who do not cash out their shares but who donate (i.e. gift) the shares directly to a registered charitable organization or foundation.
This means that when you make a gift of shares, you do not need to include any of the capital gain that you would have had to declare as taxable income had you sold the shares and given the cash proceeds instead.
For more information on how to donate securities to Lakeside, contact Bill Landsborough at 519-836-8141 ext 235. If you have previously donated securities to Lakeside, please print and complete the Donation of Securities form and forward to Bill.
Contact Bill Landsborough at 519-836-8141 ext 235 if you have any questions regarding these options.
