The purpose of Lakeside Church’s Celebrate Recovery ministry is to fellowship and celebrate God’s healing power in our lives through the “8 Recovery Principles.” This experience allows us to “be changed.” By working and applying these Biblical principles, we begin to grow spiritually. We become free from our addictive, compulsive and dysfunctional behaviors. This freedom creates peace, serenity, joy and most importantly, a stronger personal relationship with God and others. As we progress through the program we discover our personal, loving and forgiving Higher Power—Jesus Christ, the one and only true Higher Power.
Celebrate Recovery at Lakeside meets every Monday night at 7:00 pm. A ‘Newcomers 101’ group is offered each week to provide an overview of the program and to help guide 1st time attendees into the appropriate support group that best reflects the current life struggle.
For more information please contact Brian Bulger at 519-836-8141 ext 225.
DivorceCare is a 13-session course designed to help you face the challenges of separation and divorce and move torward rebuilding your life. Each DivorceCare session has two distinct elements:
During the first 30-40 minutes of the meeting, each DivorceCare group watches a video seminar followed by a support group with focus.
After viewing the video DivorceCare group participants spend time as a support group, discussing what was presented in that week's video seminar and what is going on in the lives of group members.
Please see the DivorceCare website for more information.
Another session of DivorceCare is set to begin Sept. 17 and 18 followed by weekly DVD sessions. Please call 519-836-8141 ext 225 for more information.
Lakeside's Griefwalk was born out of the desire to care for the broken-hearted; those that are grieving and mourning over life's losses. It is a newer ministry at Lakeside, still in the development stages but well underway. We want to come alongside those who are 'walking through the shadow of death' and other life losses.
There are four main elements to this Ministry.
1. GROUPS: Issue specific groups create the core of Griefwalk.
COPING: We are a branch of the COPING CENTRE, Caring for Other People in Grief (www.copingcentre.com), making available Bereavement Support Groups that are based on the model of the COPING CENTRE.
Groups begin mid-September 2010 and will run for 8-10 weeks. You will learn about grief and find ways to cope as you mourn your loss. There is no charge for the Support Groups. Please register in advance so that you may be placed in a group that best supports your needs.
For more information or to register please contact Marian Boyd at 519-836-8141 ext 237 or visit the Support and Recovery table in the Atrium on Sunday mornings. Please click here to view a copy of our brochure and the insert.
The long-term vision of Griefwalk is to create groups for other life-losses such as job loss, couples experiencing infertility, birth of a special needs child, cancer, post-abortion, etc., depending on the needs of our community.
2. COMPANIONS: Another core element of Griefwalk is the opportunity to journey with a companion - someone who has walked through grief and mourning and is available to come alongside those who are experiencing life losses.
3. TRAINING: Training sessions are developed for both the Lakeside community as well as the volunteers involved in the Griefwalk Ministry: empowering God's people to care for the broken-hearted.
4. COUNSELLING:
Grief counselling is available to those experiencing difficulties in their grief journey. Counselling is available by appointment. Contact Marian Boyd for further information.
