Curious about the Christian faith? Looking for answers? Want to get grounded as a new believer? The Alpha Course is a great opportunity for anyone to explore the Christian faith.

While it is designed especially for those wanting to investigate the Christian faith for the first time, it is also great for those new to the faith, or for those who want a refresher on the essentials.
It consists of a 10-week series of 15 talks addressing key issues relating to the Christian faith. Part way through the course there is the Alpha retreat.

The course provides an upbeat, friendly and safe environment for you to ask your questions, no matter what they are. Each one of us is on a journey through life and at Alpha we help one another as we discuss life’s bigger issues.

The Marriage Course

A New Ministry of Lakeside Church

 A resource for couples to help make struggling marriages better and good marriages great.

The Marriage Course is for any married or engaged couple who wants to build strong foundations for a healthy marriage that will last a lifetime.

It's a great opportunity to spend time together as a couple and look at the important issues in your relationship.

Each week you are given the opportunity to enjoy a special meal together and listen to a talk. Then there is plenty of time to discuss the topic as a couple. There is no group work involved at any stage of the course.

Discovering Lakeside

If you are new to Lakeside or desire to become a partner, then this is the course for you. Discovering Lakeside is an introduction to the church, detailing our history, ministry philosophy, vision and mission, core values, strategy and structure. It is an opportunity to get to know what Lakeside is all about and ask any questions that you might have. This course is a requirement for Partnership at Lakeside.

The next Discovering Lakeside course runs on Sunday Oct. 17 from 5:00 - 9:00 p.m. To sign up, please call the church office at 519-836-8141, stop by the Information Booth on Sunday morning, or mark on your Connection Card the number of people who will be attending.
 
 
Discover Your Spiritual Gifts

God, in His creative wisdom, showered His grace on all people. He gave every person various talents, abilities, and skills to use for His glory. Both Christians and unbelievers share in this common grace. These talents, abilities and skills can be developed through education and experience.

Scriptures say “whatever you do, do all to the glory of God” (1 Corinthians 10:31). This applies not only to the use of spiritual gifts, but also to the use of talents, abilities and skills. Some people honour God with their talents at a different time and in a different way than they do with their spiritual gifts. Others, however, are able to use both their gifts and their talents in ministry within the Body.

What are your talents, abilities and skills? In what areas are you particularly competent? What do you do with confidence? Attend Discover Your Gifts to find out what your gifts are and how you can use them to glorify God.

The next course takes place on Wednesday Sept. 29, from 6:30-9:30 p.m. at Lakeside Church.

Discovering Spiritual Maturity

There is no more exciting adventure or fulfilling challenge than that of a lifelong pursuit of becoming like Christ. Lakeside’s Maturity Team is ready to lead you to a deeper, vital, dynamic, and growing faith.
Our desire is to see hundreds of people at Lakeside progressing and living out Lakeside’s mission of being “a community helping people discover and fully follow Jesus Christ.” The goal is not to give you information, but to lead you to transformation. The apostle John wrote, “Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did.” (1 John 2:6) We will be satisfied with anything short of changed lives that reflect the character and actions of Jesus."

But how do we grow? What does a spiritually mature person even look like? How do we know if we are making progress? Where do we get started? These very honest questions are being asked by many people in our church community. The fact is, spiritual maturity seems to be a very elusive quality.

This seminar is a spiritual pathway that will be a road map for your ongoing spiritual development. Along with this material, we will be providing tools and practical helps for taking the “next steps” in your spiritual journey toward Christlikeness. We are excited about the future and we are trusting God to change your life.
