Leaning into Lent: The Resurrection
In this message from Robyn Elliott, we look at Easter morning, where the world carried on as grief crushed the disciples and Mary Magdalene returned to the tomb, carrying spices and despair. What she found was not death, but resurrection: a new third day, rich with life, where love wins and death doesn’t have the final word. We are Easter people in a Good Friday world, called to live out God’s love with the power of the resurrection.
Discussion Questions:
- How do you think the disciples felt in the days immediately following Jesus’ death, and can you relate to their sense of loss and confusion in your own life? Have you ever found yourself in the midst of overwhelming grief?
- The resurrection says “love wins.” What does that mean to you in practical, everyday terms? Can you think of a time when you saw love win in your own life, in your church, or your community?
- What does it mean to be “Easter people in a Good Friday world?” How can we live in the tension between brokenness and resurrection hope?
- We’ve been given a prayer, a vision, and the Spirit. How do these three gifts work together to shape the way we live as followers of Jesus?
- Have you been baptized? If not, is it something you might consider? We have some FAQ on our website if you want to know more.
- What part of the Easter story – grief, waiting, or resurrection – resonates most deeply with you right now, and why?
