Acts (The Church Unleashed): From Waiting to Wildfire

Robyn Elliott   -

What does it mean to be an unleashed church? In this message from Robyn Elliott, we revisit the wild, Spirit-filled origin story of the church in Acts 2—where God begins something new through ordinary people. It’s not about buildings or programs, but a people empowered to go out, transform communities, and live with bold courage.

Discussion Questions:

  1. What part of the church’s wild origin story surprises or challenges you the most, and why? (Consider the contrast with how we often experience church today.)
  2. Jesus used the word “ekklesia” – a people on a mission. How does that reshape your understanding of what it means to be part of the church?
  3. In what ways do you see the church today leaning more toward being a building we go into rather than a people who go out? And how do we begin to change that?
  4. The early believers waited and prayed without a strategy or plan. What is something in your life that requires you to wait on God right now? How hard is that for you?
  5. The Spirit’s arrival in Acts 2 was loud, public, and surprising. How open are you to God working in unpredictable or unconventional ways in your life?
  6. What would it look like for Lakeside to be truly “unleashed” by the Spirit today? What might change? What would stay the same?
  7. Think of a time when you felt the Holy Spirit was clearly at work in you or through you. What did that moment teach you about God and yourself
  8. Peter went from timid to bold because of the Spirit. Where do you need courage or conviction in your life right now, and are you willing to ask the Spirit for it?
