Witnesses: A Table for the World

March 15, 2026

In this message from Robyn Elliott, we look at the Last Supper where Jesus takes the Passover meal - a feast that had shaped God’s people for centuries - and gives it a breathtaking new meaning. The bread and cup become more than remembrance; they become an invitation to participate in God’s story of liberation for the whole world. At the table of Jesus, we remember the cross, anticipate the future, and discover that we are becoming a new people together.

Discussion Questions:

1. What is a meal from your family or culture that carries deep meaning or memories for you? Why does it feel significant?
2. Why do you think meals have such power to connect people and shape identity?
3. The Passover meal reminded Israel of God’s liberation. How does remembering God’s past faithfulness shape how we live today?
4. Imagine being in the room when Jesus said, “This is my body… this is my blood.” What do you think the disciples might have felt in that moment?
5. In what ways does communion connect us to both the past (the cross) and the future (God restoring creation)?
6. Robyn suggested that “we are transformed by what we eat and who we eat with.” How might shared meals - especially practices like communion - shape our spiritual identity and formation?
7. Jesus expanded the meaning of Passover from freedom for one people to freedom for the world. How should that shape the way Christians see others?
8. When you come to the Lord’s Table, what would it look like to truly believe that your mistakes and wounds do not define you?
